I use a backpack and have everything available to me in the airports and airplanes etc. The only thing I pack in another suitcase is the Pur or Brita cartridge and holder. It is large and clumsy and I dont have room in my backpack. For water I use a small thermos bottle lined with glass, not plastic. I never allow plastic to touch my food or water. I use wax paper to wrap my food. A small nylon lunch carrier works well with a prefrozen ice block to keep the food cold.
